By John Warbuck

Luxury SUVs are known for their performance, handling, enhanced ride quality, and ability to bring the comfort of home to the open road. You don’t need to pay a fortune for luxury these days. In fact, quite a few luxury SUVs are priced under $50,000. If you’re looking for the latest and greatest technology, plus comfort features, you’re in luck. This guide reviews what’s new for 2022.

If you’re wondering what SUV is best for your family, consider what you’re going to use it most for. Some vehicles are built for off-road adventures. Others are more suited to be daily drivers. Here are the top luxury SUVs of 2022.

Land Rover Discovery

The Land Rover Discovery is aptly named, since it allows you to tackle even the toughest off-road challenges. The 2022 Discovery doesn’t really have any new features but still encapsulates you in luxury. The infotainment system is really easy to use with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and voice-activated navigation. The Discovery also has top-notch interior materials and seating for up to seven people.

It has a starting price of $55,000 and comes in gas and hybrid versions. In addition to advanced safety and driver assistance technologies, it offers wireless cell phone charging, mobile software updates, an air purification system, and unlimited on-the-go data streaming.

Audi Q7

The 2022 Audi Q7 is largely unchanged from 2021, except for added safety and driver assistance technologies that come standard on upgraded trims. The Q7 really shines with its extensive package of standard tech features, excellent handling, and elegant exterior. You can seat up to seven people in the Q7 and all-wheel drive comes standard.

With a base price of $56,900, the Q7 provides a ton of value. It sprints from 0-to-60 mph in under six seconds. You’ll have added confidence on the road with a camera system that lets you see an aerial view of the vehicle, detect objects in your blind spot, and applies the brakes automatically to prevent an accident.

Genesis GV80

The Genesis GV80 has a striking appearance that’s worthy of its role as Genesis’s flagship vehicle. The GV80 is only in its second model year and still turning heads everywhere. The only change for 2022 is a new trim level, with updated exterior design elements and paint colors. There’s a ton of value in the GV80 with a base price of $50,200, especially when you consider the standard equipment package.

It offers heated seats, a state-of-the-art infotainment system with Bluetooth, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a power liftgate, and all-wheel drive as standard. You can upgrade the seats to plush Napa leather, plus ventilated seating so they can be heated or cooled.

Lincoln Aviator

The Lincoln Aviator is popular for its responsive acceleration, smooth shifting, and cloud-like ride. It comes in a gas and hybrid version, allowing you to boost your fuel economy and help the planet. The Aviator has a lot of room for cargo, including a cargo management system that allows you to make the most of your space, whether you’re seating seven people or have an empty cabin.

The 2022 Aviator is competitively priced at a base MSRP of $51,465, but there aren’t any significant changes from the previous 2021 model. It still has the intuitive infotainment system and safety features that made the 2021 model a hit.

Cadillac XT5

The Cadillac XT5 has an aggressive look with a jeweled grill and sharp lines. It’s also one of the most affordable luxury SUVs on the market with a starting price of just $43,995. There aren’t any changes from the 2021 model, which featured a diagnostic system that alerts you if your engine, transmission, oil, steering, or brake systems need to be repaired.

It also comes with a teen driver mode that allows you to give your young driver a special key. It doesn’t even allow them to use the radio unless they’re buckled up! The XT5 still boasts a terrific infotainment system and an excellent safety package as well.

Land Rover Range Rover Sport

While the 2022 Land Rover Range Rover Sport no longer comes in diesel or hybrid versions, it still offers all the comfort and utility that the 2021 model does. It’s built to keep you connected and entertained while trekking through tough terrain. The 575-horsepower engine is more than enough to tow a boat or trailer as you explore the great outdoors.

The Range Rover Sport has a base price of $70,900. However, more elevated trims can easily exceed $100,000. Its technology upgrades include a dual touch screen infotainment center, mobile internet access, and an expansive safety and driver assistance package.

Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class is about the same as last year’s and starts at $55,700. The 2022 models have standard automatic high beams, but you can no longer purchase the GLE 63 S trim level. What you can do is choose from a nice lineup of powerful engines, enjoy plush seating, and seat up to five.

The standard equipment adds value with ambient lighting, keyless entry, push-button start, and an infotainment system that comes with a virtual assistant. You can also use voice controls to access the onboard navigation, manage your phone contacts, and connect with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and your media.

Lincoln Nautilus

The Lincoln Nautilus returns in 2022 without any major updates. Its interior is as comfortable and spacious as it is aesthetically pleasing. The Nautilus is an affordable option with a base price of $42,500. Lincoln Co-Pilot 360 offers superior safety and driver assistance technologies, such as cruise control that works in rush hour traffic. It also monitors your blind spots and applies the brakes when needed to prevent an accident.

Porsche Cayenne

The Porsche Cayenne starts at $69,000, but the sky’s the limit when it comes to customization as long as you’re willing to pay for it. The most significant changes in 2022 are to the base model, which offers more standard features than before. You can also get the Turbo GT trim this year, if you want a crossover SUV that drives like a race car.

With a base engine that can launch you from 0-to-60 mph in under six seconds, you can only imagine what’s possible with the more powerful engine options. The base model also has a top speed of 152 mph, proving that you can still own an SUV without losing your racing spirit. The Cayenne’s starting price can get you in the door. However, adding optional features, cosmetic upgrades, or choosing higher trim levels can easily see the price balloon over six-figures.

A premium nine-speaker stereo system, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, wireless cell phone charger, and multiple USB ports are all part of its standard infotainment system. The included safety package is also impressive.
